Cut host walls against columns and walls in the linked file: the portion inside the linked solid is dropped so the linked element shows at its true width.
When a host architectural wall runs through a linked structural column or wall, Revit doesn't trim the overlap on its own — the drawing still shows an unbroken wall run sitting over the column, and engineers have to model a void family or edit the cut profile at every single spot to expose the structural member at its true width.
The native workaround is to model an in-place void extrusion matching the linked column or wall, then run Cut Geometry — on a floor with dozens of structural columns, that's the whole draw-align-cut sequence repeated at every intersection.
Autodesk itself confirms a host architectural wall commonly hides a linked structural column's cut pattern, and the Revit Links filter tab can't fix it — the usual workaround is overriding the wall's transparency to 1 across the board, which also wipes out the solid fill you still need elsewhere.
Skip the cut and the drawing shows the wall running wider or narrower than the linked element's real footprint — which reads as the wrong dimension once it hits construction documents.
A hand-drawn void extrusion doesn't update when the linked structural element moves or resizes — every time structural issues a revision, architecture has to re-check every old cut point by hand.
No Autodesk App Store add-in was found that automates "cut the host wall against a column or wall in a linked file" — Autodesk's own documentation and community forum only offer manual routes: build a void extrusion and run Cut Geometry, or override wall transparency to expose the cut pattern.
