Bring an Excel or CSV table into Revit as a drafting, legend or schedule-style view — preserving the source styling and re-syncing when the file changes.
General-note tables, spec sheets or summary tables that aren't tied to any model parameter have no native way into Revit except drawing them by hand — detail lines for the grid, text notes cell by cell, alignment eyeballed. Change one number in the source Excel file and most of the table has to be rebuilt from scratch, because nothing keeps the two in sync.
With no table-import command, every cell is its own text note and every rule is a hand-drawn detail line — a table with a few dozen rows eats half a shift just to lay out the grid, before the content even goes in.
A hand-built table keeps no reference to its source file; updates in Excel never reach Revit on their own, someone has to remember to redo the edit by hand, and the mismatch usually surfaces only after the drawing has already gone out.
Revit's built-in Schedule tool only reads parameters already attached to real model elements; a general-note table or a summary table that sits outside the model has no place in it, even when the content is nothing more than plain text and numbers.
The fastest workaround people fall back on is pasting the Excel table into Revit as an image or OLE object — no individual cell can be edited afterward, the font never matches the drawing standard, and zooming in blurs it out.
