01 · THE PROBLEM
The Revit ribbon swells with every add-in installed — clash, MEP, structural, each bolting on its own tab — and Revit's own way to turn tabs off, File > Options > User Interface, only reaches the tabs Autodesk itself registers. Third-party add-in tabs sit outside that list, and whatever you do toggle off doesn't persist for next time.

Every discipline add-in — clash, MEP, structural, export — bolts on its own tab. Inside a year the ribbon runs wider than the screen, and finding the right command means scrolling sideways.

Revit's User Interface dialog only lists tabs Autodesk itself registers. The only way to hide a third-party add-in's tab is to uninstall the add-in entirely — losing the whole tool, not just the tab.

What it does
Revit's own path — File > Options > User Interface — only checks and unchecks tabs Autodesk itself registers; third-party add-in tabs never make that list. The free AG Custom Ribbon Tab Builder add-in on the Autodesk App Store takes a different tack: it pulls buttons from several tabs into one custom tab and auto-hides the source tabs once they're empty — a fine one-time tidy-up, but it's a permanent reshuffle, not a toggle, and there's no concept of a profile per way of working. Ribbon Tab Manager fills the gap between the two:
