Spawn the files
- Create N output files per discipline: ST, ME, EL, FP, PB…
- Coordinates, levels, grids and scope boxes propagated from MASTER
- Files named to the project code
- One run instead of copying and cleaning each file by hand
Spawn the whole multi-discipline file set from one MASTER: coordinates, levels, grids and scope boxes propagated to every child file in a single click.
Kicking off a multi-discipline project usually means copying the MASTER file into ST, ME, EL, FP, PB and rebuilding everything by hand from there: link back to the source, acquire shared coordinates, run Copy/Monitor separately for levels and grids, then copy-paste the scope box into every file one at a time. Get the coordinates wrong on the first file and nothing complains — it only shows up once every discipline's model is stacked together.
Revit has no "spawn the MASTER into N files" command — each ST, ME, EL, FP, PB file has to be copied by hand, linked back to the MASTER, then run through Copy/Monitor for levels and grids on its own.
Acquiring shared coordinates has to happen in the right order for every linked file; get the first one wrong and Revit says nothing — it only surfaces once every discipline's model gets stacked together at coordination.
Per Autodesk's own documentation, a scope box defined in a linked model can't even be seen in the host file — it has to be copy-pasted aligned into every file by hand, and it's easy to leave a discipline with the wrong crop region.
Once the MASTER is copied, someone has to type the discipline code into every file name by hand — with no shared naming table, each person does it their own way, drifting from day one.
There's no add-in on the market that does the specific job of "spawn the entire discipline file set from a MASTER in one click" — the native Revit approach is still Copy/Monitor, a manual operation per file pair, per object type, per link. Autodesk's own documentation notes a real limitation of that approach: a scope box defined in a linked model can't even be viewed in the host file, so it has to be copy-pasted aligned by hand. Project Spawner folds that whole chain — spawning the files, linking them, syncing coordinates, levels, grids and scope boxes, naming them — into a single run:
