STRUCTURE & SITE

Linear Splitter.

Split linear elements — railings, line-based families, beams, pipes, ducts, walls — into segments by exact distance, equal spacing or picked points.

01 · THE PROBLEM

Splitting a long railing run, a chain of line-based families, or a beam into equal segments comes down to Revit's native Split Element — clicked point by point, with no numeric distance to type in, and only one element at a time.

No numeric distance to enter — just clicking by eye

Split Element has no distance field. To split at exact 2-metre intervals, you first have to place a dimension or reference plane as a guide, then click the split point on it — two steps for something that should just be typing a number.

Only one element per run of the command

Split Element won't take a multi-selection for a batch split. Twenty railing runs that each need splitting into 2-metre segments means repeating the whole procedure twenty separate times.

Equal-N splitting has no native support at all

Splitting an element into exactly N equal parts isn't something Revit computes for you — engineers divide the total length by N on a calculator, place reference points, then split, and one rounding slip leaves an odd-length segment at the end.

5 loại cấu kiện khác nhau

Every element category has its own way to be split

Railings, line-based families, beams, pipes, ducts and walls each behave a little differently under a manual split — some keep their type and style, others need it reassigned — so the process can never be standardised into one repeatable step across the group.

02 · FEATURES

What it does

Split (Pipes/Ducts) Automatically on the App Store ($1.99/month, Revit 2019–2024) only splits pipes and ducts, and only at a fixed distance. Linear Splitter also covers railings, line-based families, beams and walls, in three different ways, across several elements in one run:

A

Three ways to split

  • Exact distance — split at a fixed interval
  • Equal spacing — split into N equal segments
  • Pick points — split at points you choose along the curve
  • Batch across several elements in one pass
  • Keeps the original tags — re-hosted onto the new elements instead of being lost
  • Asks for confirmation before touching elements that carry rebar
  • Does not clone the Mark onto every piece — no duplicate-Mark warnings
