Take off formwork quantities to the Vietnamese standard across seven element types, subtracting intersections with solid booleans so rotated elements at 30° or 45° still compute correctly.

01 · THE PROBLEM

Revit has no built-in notion of 'formwork area' — to take off coffa quantities, engineers have to derive it themselves from section perimeter times length in a schedule, total it by hand in Excel, and personally make sure every intersection with another member gets subtracted correctly.

Export a schedule of perimeters and heights, then multiply and sum it by hand in Excel for every column, beam, slab and wall type — and start over from scratch whenever the model changes before an issue.

Area at intersection points gets double-counted

The perimeter-times-height formula doesn't subtract the face hidden by another member — a beam framing into a column, a wall meeting a slab — so the total includes stretches that never need formwork, quietly inflating the number in a way that's hard to spot by eye.

Rotated members break the straight-section formula

The manual section-times-length formula only holds when a member runs straight along the grid; a column or beam set at an angle throws off the side-face area, and there's no quick way to cross-check and catch the error.

Grouping quantities by floor and element type by hand

Costing needs its own summary broken out by floor and by element type — with nothing to compute it automatically, engineers filter the schedule, copy-paste, and cross-check it all over again for every quantity run.
