AI already reads the Revit model well, but the CAD set still sits outside: open DWGs by hand, hunt layers/entities, then link into Revit. Without an MCP bridge the agent cannot read AutoCAD 2024 drawings, cannot navigate to the right region, and has no handoff contract into Revit MCP.

What it does

AutoCAD MCP is the read/navigate bridge from AutoCAD 2024 DWGs to an AI agent, then a handoff contract into Revit MCP. Access ships with Team/Studio like the other CAD tools; accounts without it have every acad_* tool locked:

Read AutoCAD 2024 DWGs

  • Scan a CAD folder, inventory DWG/DXF files, SHA-256 and drawing units
  • Connect to exactly one AutoCAD 2024 process and query entities by handle
  • The standard edition never edits or saves the source DWG — read and navigate only

AutoCAD Use navigation

  • Observe window/document/layout, zoom a region, select handles for visual check
  • Switch a named layout, idempotent
  • The host only runs API on Application.Idle — no blind mutation while AutoCAD is busy

  • Emit a hash + units + blocker/warning contract before calling Revit MCP

MCP Pro — background view and drawing edits

  • See drawings while AutoCAD is minimized or covered by other apps: offscreen rendering through AutoCAD's own graphics system, without changing the user's view
  • Capture the whole AutoCAD window without bringing it to the front, and render DWGs that are not even open in the editor
  • Read layers, layouts and viewports, blocks and attributes, xrefs; filter entities by type, layer, block, text and region
  • Draw every common object (lines, polylines, rectangles, polygons, arcs, ellipses, splines, hatches, text, blocks) and edit them: move, rotate, copy, mirror, arrays, offset, explode — one transaction per call, any error rolls back everything
  • Annotate with 6 dimension types, multileaders, tables and find & replace; manage layers, linetypes, text and dimension styles, purge; create blocks, edit attributes, groups, xrefs; layouts, viewports and PDF plotting
  • Grouped like Revit MCP Status Pro — pick tool groups per AI app, and the screen zooms to whatever the AI reads or draws
  • Hatch like BHATCH: use existing objects as the boundary (it follows when they change), arcs and holes, pick a point inside a closed area, pattern or gradient fill, edit existing hatches
  • Edit blocks like BEDIT: draw and edit inside the block definition, rename, replace, sync attributes, import blocks from another DWG; set dynamic block parameters (visibility, size, angle, flip)
  • Full xref control: attach, overlay, bind, insert, repath, clip and unclip
  • Available only when the account has MCP Status Pro
